  1. UBC Office of Research Services at VCHRI:

    Sameera Wazir, Research Manager and Susan O'Neil, Assistant Manager have moved to new offices within the VCHRI Administration Area. They are now located in 160D and 160E, respectively. We invite you to drop by and say hello to us in our new location.

  1. NIH Regional Seminars:

    These seminars provide an exciting opportunity to interact with approximately 25 NIH/HHS experts along with hundreds of your peers, while spending 2 days learning the latest NIH grants policy and process information first-hand. The NIH Regional Seminars are designed for those new to the NIH grants process, including sponsored project office and departmental administrators, investigators, graduate students, etc. However, it is also an opportunity for those more experienced to obtain updates on grants policies and procedures, as well as network with peers and NIH Faculty.

  1. Providence Health Care Research Institute (PHCRI) Research Day: "Welcoming the World!":

    The annual Providence Health Care Research Institute (PHCRI) Research Day event celebrates the work of researchers at PHCRI and to honour one of their scientists with the Research and Mission Award. The special guest speaker will be Arthur S. Slutsky, M.D., Vice-President Research, St. Michael's Hospital; Division Director, Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care Medicine and Professor of Medicine, Surgery and Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto.

  1. Gene Screen BC - Launch of the First Annual Genomics Short Film Competition:

    Gene Screen BC is the first Annual Genetics Video Competition, hosted by the BC Clinical Genomics Network and Genome BC, to explore the world of human genetics on the screen. The goal is to bring scientists and filmmakers together into film making teams to create films about genomics that will educate and excite the public and healthcare professionals about this fascinating field.

    The competition is being launched on 22nd March 2010 at the Museum of Vancouver 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Winning films will be screened on 8th September 2010 and will accurately portray the current and near-future clinical science. Over $7,000 cash prizes are available for the winning films.
