Managing Forgetfulness and Aging Successfully
The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, together with the Brain Research Centre, hosted a highly successful free public forum on "Managing Forgetfulness and Aging Successfully" on March 12, 2007 at the Life Sciences Centre. This forum set an attendance record for a free UBC community research event with over 1500 attendees and an additional 150 people tuning in to the webcast.
The evening opened with welcoming remarks by UBC President Stephen Toope and Irving (Ike) Barber. Art Hister, host of Canada's longest running health radio program, emceed the event, which featured Max Cynader, Director of the Brain Research Centre; Howard Feldman, Director of the UBC Clinic for Alzheimer's disease and Related Dementias; and Jonathan Schooler, Canada Research Chair in Social Cognitive Science. The speakers discussed disorders of the aging brain, strategies to help improve memory, and how to age successfully.
