Earlier this month, VCHRI hosted a research evening with a focus on the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology. The purpose of the evening was to bring together members of the clinical research community from across Vancouver Coastal Health. The crowd of 70 had an opportunity to network and hear about current research topics, including health outcomes, health economics, and clinical research. The keynote address was presented by Dr. Peter Tugwell, Canada Research Chair in Health Equity and Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology & Community Medicine, University of Ottawa. The following investigators from VCHRI also made presentations: Dr. W.Taylor, Richmond General; Dr. Boris Sobolev, Director of the Laboratory For Statistical Modeling Of Access To Health Care, Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation; Dr. Allan Best, Director of the Community Partnership for Health Research; Dr. Carl Marra, Director of Health Economics, Scientist, the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation; Dr. Riyad Abu-Laban, Research Director, Department of Emergency Medicine at VGH and Scientist, Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation; Dr. Peter Choi, Assistant professor & clinical research director, department of anesthesia University of British Columbia, Scientist, Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation.

The event, attended by VCH president and CEO Ida Goodreau, was a huge success and another research evening is being planned.
