The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between Parkinson's disease and the bacteria and fungi living in the gut and nose over a five year period.
This is a longitudinal study that involves six study visits over the course of 5 years (visits will be on an annual basis). Each study visit takes approximately 2.5-3 hours to complete, which will include questionnaires, a clinical assessment of symptoms of Parkinson's disease, a smell test and 3 biological samples: a blood swab, swab of the mouth, and a fecal sample.
