Among young people who use drugs in the context of unstable housing and homelessness in Vancouver, romantic relationships can powerfully shape understandings of what is right and wrong and which actions to take during pregnancy and early parenting. In this talk, BC Centre on Substance Use researcher Dr. Danya Fast will describe how gendered moral worlds frequently clash with the imperatives of health care, criminal justice and child protection systems, often further entrenching young people in cycles of loss, defeat and harm.
