Join us for a seminar with Neale Smith who will speak about using qualitative approaches to data collection and analysis in the health care setting. In this workshop, Neale will discuss what research questions are best answered qualitatively and highlight the rationale for using common qualitative research traditions and methods. In addition, this session will also briefly introduce qualitative data management software programs (e.g., NVivo) and discuss if and how you could use these for your research projects. There will be an opportunity at the end of this workshop for a Q&A session.
This workshop is part of our VCHRI Research Training Series. This series is designed to support the acquisition of advanced skills, techniques and knowledge, and lead to enhanced practices in the conduct of research.
Learning Objectives
In this session you will learn about:
- The types of research questions that are best answered qualitatively
- The strengths and limitations of different qualitative research methods and traditions
- Ways to use qualitative data management software like NVivo in research
