Biography

Dr. Zhenwei Ma is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a principal investigator at the International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries (ICORD). 

Trained across chemical, mechanical and biomedical engineering as well as pathology and clinical translation at McGill University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and UBC, his research focuses on bioengineered interfaces that seamlessly integrate with living tissues to monitor, mimic and regulate human pathophysiology. Passionate about bridging application-oriented engineering and curiosity-driven science, Dr. Ma now leads a cross-disciplinary research program developing translational biointerfacing technologies for surgical innovation, regenerative medicine and cancer therapy.
