Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute has over 1,500 personnel engaged in research in a large variety of disease areas, clinical settings and research laboratories. Clinical research, , laboratory and basic science extend across many health disciplines with VCH, and there is no shortage of opportunities for new and established researchers, trainees and staff.

Manager, Research Education & Internal Awards, VCHRI

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager, Research Education & Internal Award will create a training and career development program that fosters collaboration across the four Communities of Care (CoC's), VCHRI’s research centres, and the Faculty of Medicine at UBC. The manager will:

  • Provide leadership in all aspects of research education and internal awards, aligning with strategic priorities within VCHRI and VCH;
  • Assume accountability for developing, implementing, and evaluating both research education and internal award programs. This will include managing the responsibilities and workload of the Research Education and Internal Awards Associate. 
  • Assume accountability for developing and implementing educational programs on topics related to the conduct and organization of research activities, implementing the internal grants and awards program, and advising senior administration on a variety of research policy questions.

Project Manager, BC Centre on Substance Use

The Project Manager for the Canadian Research Initiative on Substance Misuse (CRISM) BC Node is responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of CRISM projects and activities, ensuring that projects are completed successfully and on time. To achieve goals and deliverables, the Project Manager engages with internal BCCSU team members and external stakeholders utilizing effective communication, project management, and detailed organization; and, works collaboratively with the other regional CRISM teams in Canada, as well as funding partners. As well, the Project Manager provides leadership, guidance, and support to designated CRISM BC staff.

Part-Time Research Coordinator, VGH Otolaryngology Divison

The Vancouver General Hospital Otolaryngology Division is hiring a part-time research coordinator to support ongoing and new research projects. This research coordinator will work closely with the VGH Otolaryngology faculty members and residents on their respective research projects and will need to have strong time management skills and be proficient in the above tasks with minimal supervision. It is desirable that this individual would have experience with the creation and submission of ethics protocols, familiarity with the review and submission of manuscripts, patient screening and recruitment and facilitation of regular research meetings.  Currently, this position requires 16-20 hours per week. If desired, this position may develop into a full time employment opportunity in the future.
