Privacy Advisor, Research

Reporting to the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Director - Data Release Management and the Director - Clinical Trials Administration, the Privacy Advisor, Research is a subject matter expert and leader in interpreting and applying information access, privacy legislation, standards and principles in a complex hybrid electronic information and technical healthcare environment. The Privacy Advisor, Research is responsible for leading components of and leading the development, implementation, evaluation of privacy and compliance processes to facilitate the conduct of health research by VCH and VCH-affiliated researchers in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. 

Working in consultation with the VCH Information Privacy Office (IPO), Data Release Management Office (DRMO) and Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI), the Privacy Advisor, Research develops privacy education and awareness programs to promote a privacy conscious culture within the research community. The position also provides support for the completion of privacy impact assessments for research specific environments, research programs and research projects and the development of privacy-related policies.

Part-Time Research Coordinator, VGH Otolaryngology Divison

The Vancouver General Hospital Otolaryngology Division is hiring a part-time research coordinator to support ongoing and new research projects. This research coordinator will work closely with the VGH Otolaryngology faculty members and residents on their respective research projects and will need to have strong time management skills and be proficient in the above tasks with minimal supervision. It is desirable that this individual would have experience with the creation and submission of ethics protocols, familiarity with the review and submission of manuscripts, patient screening and recruitment and facilitation of regular research meetings.  Currently, this position requires 16-20 hours per week. If desired, this position may develop into a full time employment opportunity in the future.
