Leadership update from VCHRI and Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Donald Griesdale as Interim Director, Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation (C2E2), effective immediately to June 30, 2025.
Dr. Griesdale is an anesthesiologist and intensive care physician at Vancouver General Hospital and an associate professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia. After completing his clinical training, he earned a Master of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2008. His clinical and academic interests focus on neurocritical care, particularly the management of patients with traumatic brain injury and hypoxemic ischemic brain injury following cardiac arrest.
As Interim Director, Dr. Griesdale will oversee the Centre’s research activities, advance its priorities and foster interdisciplinary opportunities for investigators and scientists. His leadership will support C2E2’s mission to provide evidence-based guidance for advancing a sustainable health care system that delivers safe, high-quality care through multidisciplinary research and training.
Dr. Griesdale’s appointment follows the committed leadership of Dr. Penny Brasher, who has served as Director from 2018 to 2024. During this time, she has exemplified research excellence and collaborated with many scientists across VCH and VCHRI. She has graciously committed to providing support during the transition to help ensure the Centre’s continued success.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Griesdale on his appointment and thanking Dr. Brasher for her dedication to C2E2.
Sincerely,
