Leadership update from Dr. Stirling Bryan, VCHRI Interim Executive Director.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Donald Griesdale as Director, Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation (C2E2), effective immediately through March 31, 2030.
Dr. Griesdale is an anesthesiologist and intensive care physician at Vancouver General Hospital, and an associate professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia. Following his clinical training, he completed a Master of Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health in 2008. His clinical and academic work focuses on neurocritical care, with an emphasis on traumatic brain injury and hypoxic ischemic brain injury following cardiac arrest.
As Director, Dr. Griesdale will provide strategic leadership for C2E2, advancing VCH research priorities and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration across the health system. He will oversee the Centre’s research portfolio, governance and operations, with a focus on enabling a learning health system that supports continuous improvement in care.
Under his leadership, C2E2 will continue to generate evidence that informs policy and practice, contributing to a sustainable health care system that delivers safe, high-quality care. Through close collaboration with researchers, clinicians and system partners, the Centre will advance research that drives meaningful, community-centered outcomes across Vancouver Coastal Health, provincially and nationally.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Griesdale on his appointment to this important leadership role.
