Join the UBC Innovation Support Unit, the BC Centre on Substance Use and the Therapeutics Initiative for Think Twice! The (lack of) evidence for opioid analgesics to treat minor acute and chronic pain. This educational webinar will examine opioid-sparing approaches in the context of primary care for non-cancer pain.
Learning objectives:
- Describe and differentiate the evidence regarding opioid analgesia for serious acute injury vs. minor acute injury and chronic pain
- Describe opioid-sparing approaches
- Assess the utility and limitations of risk prediction tools
- Determine whether individuals at low risk of developing opioid use disorder can be reliably identified before prescribing opioid analgesics
Attendees are invited to participate in an optional focus group discussion at the end of the webinar to discuss perceptions of opioid-sparing pain management. If you are interested in a focus group, please fill out the consent form. If you are interested in participating in a short one-on-one interview as an alternative to the focus groups, please email shawna.narayan@ubc.ca. Focus group and interview participants will receive a $100 honorarium for their time.
