Biography
Dr. Chenoa Cassidy-Matthews (she/her) is a population health epidemiologist with the VCHRI’s Indigenous Health Research Unit. She is an anishininewak member of Sachigo Lake First Nation with mixed UK and French ancestry. Raised on the traditional territories of the Anishinabek and Haudenosaunee Peoples, she now lives on the territories of the Xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples. She holds an MPH from Simon Fraser University and a PhD from the School of Population and Public Health at University of British Columbia.
As a researcher, she is engaged in diverse subject areas, including Indigenous data governance, climate change and resilience, and the impacts of COVID-19 and other public health emergencies on Indigenous health and care.
