Join UBC Advanced Research Computing for a lecture-format workshop to learn more about how to use databases and in-database analytics in research. This workshop will provide an overview of databases and then use a case study to demonstrate how to build a relational database from scratch, interact with the database and perform in-database analytics.
Attendees should have some basic understanding of Linux command line. Lightweight python scripts will be used for in-database analytics, but coding will not be covered in the workshop. Python programming skills are not a requirement for this course. Experience with database integrated development environment (IDE) and code editor is helpful but not a must.
