The Immunity and Infection Research Centre (IIRC) works across a variety of disciplines to uncover immune responses to infectious diseases and identify the causes behind immune system disorders. Researchers study the basic mechanisms of human immune responses involved in transplantation, infectious diseases and auto-immune disorders in order to develop new treatment and prevention strategies to improve public health outcomes and enhance community health services.
The Centre brings together scientists with a broad range of expertise with the goal of understanding how the body’s immune system fights infectious diseases and how its malfunctioning produces immune-related diseases, in order to develop therapeutics and to improve public health outcomes and services. Researchers are engaged in both basic research as well as translational research with the broad objective of drug development and improvements in public health.
