Biography
Dr. Adnan Sheikh is a clinical professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a musculoskeletal and emergency/trauma radiologist in the department of medical imaging at Vancouver Coastal Health. He also serves as an associate editor for 3D Printing in Medicine and is the former chair of the Radiological Society of North America 3D Printing Special Interest Group.
Dr. Sheikh completed his medical education and radiology training in India, followed by fellowships in musculoskeletal and emergency/trauma imaging at UBC. His clinical and research interests include personalized, patient-specific 3D printing, marrow imaging, space imaging, functional musculoskeletal imaging, bone and soft tissue tumor imaging, MSK interventions and trauma imaging.
He is actively engaged in multidisciplinary research, collaborating closely with colleagues in orthopedic surgery and physical medicine & rehabilitation. He served as radiology lead for the landmark MARROW study involving astronauts, supported by the Canadian Space Agency and NASA, with findings published in Nature Communications in 2023. He is also a member of the 2026 SPARK team, which received funding from the Canadian Space Agency to conduct research on space anemia.
