Purpose of Study

The purpose of this study is to understand how an activity chair affects daily living among adults with chronic conditions resulting in pain, fatigue or low standing endurance. In particular, researchers are interested to learn participants’ experience using the activity chair in their own homes and whether the activity chair affects day-to-day engagement in activities that are meaningful to them.

Eligible participants will first be interviewed to choose an activity to do using the activity chair and a way to measure their engagement (e.g. frequency or duration), which they will track in 10 activity logs given every one to two days. For the first half of the study, participants will continue life as usual. For the second half, they will be loaned an activity chair to use. Finally, researchers will interview participants to understand their experience and impact on activity engagement.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • are 19 years of age or above

  • have a disability or chronic health condition that results in one or more of the following symptoms: pain, fatigue/tiredness, reduced standing endurance

chair safely in their home environment
