Purpose of Study 

In this study we will use PET and fMRI imaging together to investigate changes in the brain in people affected by Parkinson's disease.  We will complete brain imaging on 20 participants (10 with Parkinson's disease and 10 healthy controls) at the multi-modal imaging suite in the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health.  These data will be used to compare patterns of altered connections between individuals with Parkinson's disease and healthy control volunteers.

Eligibility 

Parkinson's disease individuals:

  • recently diagnosed with early stage Parkinson's disease (less than 4 year duration)
  • between the ages of 50 and 85
  • written informed consent obtained from subject and ability for subject to comply with the requirements of the study

Healthy individuals:

  • between the ages of 50 and 85
  • written informed consent obtained from subject and ability for subject to comply with the requirements of the study
