Biography
Dr. Amrish Joshi is a palliative physician within the Richmond Integrated Hospice Palliative Care Program. He has a background in family medicine and over 10 years of full-time experience in palliative care, initially at Fraser Health and now with Vancouver Coastal Health. He completed a Master of Science in palliative medicine at Cardiff University and a Master of Law in medical law and ethics at the University of Edinburgh, and also received subspecialty training in adult palliative medicine with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
In role as a palliative physician, Dr. Joshi provides support to acute care teams within Richmond Hospital and to primary care providers in the community, both in out-patient clinics and via home visits. He also works within community hospice. As a clinical assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, he teaches both medical students and residents. He is active in research and is continues to work with the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute on several projects related to palliative care. His research interests relate to increasing cultural knowledge and sensitivity when providing palliative care services.
