Biography

Dr. Marie Westby is a clinician-scientist at the Centre for Aging SMART, a physical therapy clinical resource educator at the Mary Pack Arthritis Program and a clinical associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. She completed her Bachelor of Science in physiotherapy in 1988 and her PhD in rehabilitation sciences at UBC in 2010. She has published several articles, authored chapters and presented internationally on rehabilitation and exercise therapy for varied forms of arthritis and total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Dr. Westby is a Michael Smith Health Research BC Health Professional Investigator, evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of TJA rehabilitation quality indicators through patient and clinician-targeted toolkits. She strongly believes in patient oriented research and engages patients and clinicians in all aspects of her projects.
