Biography

Dr. Torsten Nielsen was born in North Vancouver and was inspired to be a cancer researcher by Terry Fox. He completed the MD/PhD training program at McGill University and the anatomical pathology residency program at the University of British Columbia (UBC), with additional training at Stanford University. He was appointed as an assistant professor at UBC and started his lab at VCHRI in 2003, and was promoted to full professor in 2012. Dr. Nielsen is also an affiliated member of the Department of Orthopaedics and the Department of Urological Sciences at UBC.
