Purpose of Study
The purpose of this study is to collect biospecimens (fecal, urine, blood) and clinical data to serve as a resource for future research on Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. The careful collection, storage and retrieval of biospecimens and medical information for research projects are critical for improving understanding of healthy development and disease mechanisms and the subsequent development of effective treatments. Biospecimens from this biobank will be made available for ethically-approved studies.
Two in-person study visits (18 months apart) will be involved, where the research coordinator will collect a blood sample and/or urine sample. Participants will be provided with a kit for at-home fecal sample collection, which can be mailed to the study coordinator or collected ahead of their in-person visit and brought with them to UBC. Participants will also be sent questionnaires on diet and lifestyle information that can be completed online via a secure link.
Eligibility
You may be eligible to participate in this study if you are an adult over the age of 19, either with a diagnosed movement disorder or a healthy control.
