Purpose of Study

The purpose of this study is to understand and document the experiences of patients who live at least 60 minutes outside of the Lower Mainland and who are traveling to Vancouver for a solid organ transplant. The research team aims to document the psychological, social, emotional and cultural impact for patients leaving their communities to access care in Vancouver. The study will also capture the associated out-of-pocket costs that these transplant patients incur before, during and after the transplant operation.

Participants are encouraged to fill out the survey by August 16, 2024.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to participate in this study in one of the following groups:

  • Patients: Transplant recipients who live within British Columbia, at least 60 minutes outside of the Lower Mainland, and who have received a solid organ transplant within the last five years or are on the waitlist for a transplant.
  • Caregivers: Family and friends of rural solid organ transplant patients who have or will provide support and care to patients.
